Get those sneakers ready. On May 13, the American Heart Association is taking over Miller’s Landing (151 Freedom Park Road) for the annual Omaha-Council Bluffs Heart Walk presented by Physicians Mutual and Metro Credit Union from 7-11 a.m. The Kids Heart Challenge, presented by Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, a half-mile obstacle course for ages 5-12, is at 8 a.m. with the Heart Walk at 9:30.
The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s mission – building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke – in action. Held annually, the walk celebrates those who have made lifestyle changes in an effort to improve their heart-health, and encourages others to take the pledge to live healthier lifestyles, while raising the funding needed for life-saving research and education.
Local companies and individuals can form Heart Walk teams now at http://www.omahaheartwalk.com/ Donations can also be made through the website. Walkers are eligible for a Heart Walk t-shirt once they have raised a minimum of $100.
At the Heart Walk, cardiovascular disease ad stroke survivors from across the state will be honored.
